Twitter Follow Ratio Tips and How to Promote Your Twitter

by Kelly Pope, under Twitter Help, Viral Marketing

Twitter Follow Ratio Tips

Follow Others and keep your Twitter follow ratio below 105%. Just follow others who share similar interests, and if they find your bio or website or tweets interesting, they will follow you back. But don’t over do it otherwise you will end up in the twitter blacklist (or even suspended in some cases).

Promote Your Twitter – I promoted my twitter everywhere, from my blog, Facebook, websites to my email list to signatures. Do whatever you can to send tons of traffic to your Twitter accounts.

Engage In Conversations – If people don’t see you actually engaging in conversations i.e. replying to other people’s tweets then they will see you as unsocial and simply unfollowing you. Twitter is about interaction and relationships. Just think of it this way, will you still continue following someone who just simply ignores you? Unless he or she is a celebrity or thought-leader, probably no. One-way communication just doesn’t work to well on Twitter.

Tweet Useful Micro Blogs – Simply tweet stuff that are interesting or useful and people will follow you. Don’t continue to tweet and promote your online blog, capture page, or website.  If you do, not only are people discouraged from knowing you better or knowing you at all, it could create issues with your Twitter account and you will be suspended.

Tweet Enough – Not tweeting is one of the biggest turn-offs to a follower. It’s just like not updating your blog for a couple of months. People will simply not come back to your site (or unfollow you in this case especially if they are using a filter tool to unfollow you based on your tweet stats) Make sure to tweet at least once per day. Of course don’t over do it either.

Don’t Tweet or Direct Message the same content.  This is considered Twitter Spam and your account will be suspended or deactivated by Twitter. Automate and schedule your Non-Spammy Trump Tweets & Generic Tweets using Tweetspinner

Twitter Follow Limits – Don’t push your limits

by Kelly Pope, under Social Media News, Twitter Help

What are the Twitter follow limits?

Twitter enforces a following limit of 2000 people per account, unless you have more than 2,000 followers yourself. If you have more than 2,000 followers, you’re able to follow a number that is different for every account, based on the number of people who follow you. You can always follow 2,000 people, if more than 2,000 follow you, you can follow a number higher than 2,000 that is determined by the number of people following you.

If this was easy…a monkey could do it. Not so much. But it is simpler than one might think.

Bottom line, you will need to have more followers before you can continue following more users. These are the steps I suggest if you are following less than 2000 so you are not banned from Twitter and is explained in my Turbo Charge Video Series.

Day 1) Add 100 – 200 friends with using Twollo or Tweetspinner (automated) or Twello (manual adds).

Day 3 or 4) Automate or manually Prune or Purge some of those friends who are not following you back using Tweetspinner or Twollo to keep your Twitter follow ratio at a safe percentage. Repeat this process over and over until you have followed 2000 and 2000 are following you then you would be safe to follow more people each day when your ratio is kept at or under 105%.

I think this is the best way to keep your twitter accounts safe when starting out.

Rules of the Road: Follows and Unfollows

Do not engage in follower churn! Twitter considers aggressive, repeated following and unfollowing to be “follower churn” and they suspend accounts engaged in this.

The definition of “follower churn” is a difficult one. Twitter is rather vague about it, largely because if they specifically define it, people will use this as a signpost for how far they can push the limits.

tweetspinner.com (highly recommended in accordance with Twitter’s new rules. Tweetspinner is regarded as the top Twitter networking tool to filter out spam and encourage Twitter safe filters so your Twitter account is not deactivated).
