Anchor Text Linking – SEO with Quality Link

by Kelly Pope, under Social Media News, Wordpress Tips

Anchor Text Linking using a URL on any website or blog or social media you must always use a “keyword” that matches to your sites content or meta tags within the link itself. For instance if I have a website called www.mlmwatching.com and you have control of the links in a way to use whatever verbiage you wish, then never say “click here” always incorporate a term (like “check out mlm FTC scams” if your page or posts content matches this key phrase” in which describes where you are sending them). One of the major reasons to have a keyword within your domain as well.

Here’s an example:

<A href=”mysite.html”>My Link Text</A>

This is basic enough. Now you should again add your keyword phrase inside the anchor text linking to a RELEVANT web page.

<A href=”/seo/seo-social-media-tools.html”>browse through our large selection of Social Media SEO tools</A>

The link text, AS WELL AS THE DIRECTORY (named SEO) AND THE PAGE NAME it is linking to, have the keyword phrase. This will help your SEO.

Searching for anything on Google, you will notice that the key search terms (if present in the url) are highlighted as well as the key terms “striped” from the URL’s body content. This says to me that naming your links with the key terms for THAT web page or blog post is important.

From personal experience I can tell you that it is important that you target a certain keyword and have it in title, H1 tags, and URL to begin with anyways for your website or blog.

Strong, descriptive anchor text is a sign that we know how spiders and robots travel links and that we care about people.

Search engines pay attention to what you write in your anchor text. They notice all of the text around a link too and the keywords and descriptions. Spiders use anchor text to determine relevance as they follow links from post to post. Linking with keyword-rich anchor text forms strong links to the web page or post.

Think about relationships. Descriptive and RELEVANT anchor text, descriptive of what the link is leading to, offers an opportunity to feature those relationships. Spiders read and match up relevant keywords in the linking posts. Search engines highlight your anchor text when they index the reference. A few words inside a link to make a difference in relevance and SEO is also a way to let readers know where they are going.
